Slate: Why Income Inequality Isn’t Going Anywhere

Shachar Kariv, Chief Scientist of Capital Preferences, LTD and Benjamin N. Ward Professor of Economics and Department Chair of Economics at University of California Berkeley shows that “even when they self-identify as progressive Democrats, ‘elite’ Americans value equality less highly than their middle-class compatriots.”  Working together with an impressive team of co-researchers, Dr. Kariv’s research methods are extending into the realm of distributional preferences, the preferences that govern our views on taxation and redistribution of wealth.

Published in Science and covered here in Slate, this study is part of an ongoing body of research on how decisions reveal who you are.
